On 26 July 2023, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President, organized a ceremony in celebration of the 71st Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua at STOU headquarters in Nonthaburi. The ceremony was attended by the university faculty members and staff. The participants took the oath of allegiance to be good civil servants and signed the book of well-wishes for His Majesty the King’s Birthday Anniversary.

Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Director of the Office of Educational Technology, and Dr. Tejtasin Phiasai, Deputy Director of the Office of Computer Services joined the 2023 International Conference on Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE 2023) held by Hong Kong Metropolitan University during 3-7 July 2023.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan presented the paper titled “Need of smart learning resource management systems for supporting open online learning and lifelong learning” which was co-authored by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemmanat Mingsiritham.

Congratulations to Miss Yawinthakorn Thongkaek, Head of the Information Services Section, the Office of Documentation and Information, for receiving the ‘Excellent’ award at the Annual Seminar of the National Library of Thailand (NLT) held on 21 June 2023 at NLT Conference Hall.

The Seminar was held under the theme “Digital Transformation in Cultural Heritage Management for Library.” Miss Yawinthakorn presented the work titled “King Prajadhipok Study: Learning Resource to Lifelong Education in Disruptive Technology Era” in the category of Digital transformation for libraries in practice.
His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana graciously presided over the Graduation Ceremony of Sukhothai Thammathriat Open University for the Academic Year 2020-2021 on 24-25 June 2023. The graduates celebrated the joyous occasion at STOU Conference Hall (Aneknitat Building).
Sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty-one students graduated in these two academic years, including 14,971 from Bachelor’s Degree level, 1,739 from Master’s Degree level, and 41 from Doctoral Degree level. Among them were four scholars who were awarded honorary doctorates including the following.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, and Mrs. Rattip Phukkeson, Acting Director of the Department of International Affairs, joined the Annual Conference of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (2023 ASAIHL Conference) hosted by Soka University. The Conference was held under the theme of “The Role of Universities in Realizing Inclusiveness and Resilience in a Global Society” during 10-12 June 2023 in Tokyo, Japan.

ASAIHL’s purpose is to assist member institutions to strengthen themselves through mutual self-help and to achieve international distinction in teaching, research and public service. In so doing, the institutions contribute strength to their respective nations and to the entire region. Specifically, the Association exists to foster the development of the institutions themselves, the cultivation of a sense of regional identity and interdependence and liaison with other regional and international organizations concerned with research and teaching.
9 June 2023 – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President, Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, and Mrs. Rattip Phukkeson, Acting Director of the Department of International Affairs, visited the Open University of Japan (OUJ) and discussed collaborations with Prof. Dr. Masaya Iwanaga, President of OUJ. The delegation also made study visits to several departments and the Study Center in Chiba.
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University welcomed H.E. Ambassador Abderrahim RAHHALY of The Kingdom of Morocco to Thailand on 7 June 2023 at its headquarters in Nonthaburi.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President, led the meeting which discussed the potential collaborations between Moroccan universities and Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University. Attending the meeting also were Mr. El Mostafa Trifaia, Minister Counsellor and Deputy Chief of Mission and representatives from STOU Schools and Offices.
Later, the guests enjoyed the campus tour at the King Prajadhipok and Queen Rambhai Barni Documentation Center and the Rajamangalaphisek Educational Park and a cultural visit at Koh Kret, Nonthaburi.
In 2023, Visakha Bucha Day, which is the ceremony that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Lord Buddha, falls on 3 June.
Sukhothai Thammahirat Open University (STOU) held an event to celebrate on 2 June 2023 at Tri Sorn Building and Ho Phra Phut Ming Mongkhon Dhammasathan (Buddha Hall) in the Rajamangalaphisek Education Park. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Manit Jumpa, Distinguished Member of the University Council, Acting President of STOU, presided over the ceremony.
Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University has always supported Thai cultural preservation through the work of the Office of Continuing Education. Significant holidays are observed regularly throughout the year.
1 June 2023, Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs welcomed Dr. Raziff Jamaluddin, Head of Corporate Communication and Event Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia.
Dr. Raziff Jamaluddin made a study visit to the STOU Seminar and Training Center and met with faculty members of the School of Management Science to discuss possible academic cooperation.
31 May 2023 – Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan, Acting Vice-President for Academic Services, Cultural Preservation, and International Affairs, represented Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University to deliver the donated recyclable items to related organizations, after carrying out several donation projects to raise awareness regarding Green University and sustainability among faculty members, staff and students.
Desk calendars were delivered to the Educational Technology for the Blind Center, Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under the Royal Patronage of H.M. the Queen, which will be used to produce Braille-printed instructional materials for the blind. Panty hosts and plastic cups were delivered to Sirindhorn National Medical Rehabilitation Institute (SNMRI), which will be used in the making of artificial legs.
