    Congratulations to faculty members of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University for receiving awards at the International Conference of Digital Business, Society and Economy (ICDBSE2023) held at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during 24-25 October 2023.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pithak Srisuksai, School of Economics, received Best Paper Award for presenting the work “The Impact of FINTECH on the Performance of Financial Institutions in Malaysia and Thailand.”

    Assistant Professor Dr. Khajitpan Makaratat Kritpolviman, School of Science and Technology, received Best Presenter Award for presenting the work “Cyber-Physical System Architecture for Collaborative Learning in Industrial Technology.”

    STOU Library personnel receives ‘Excellent’ award at 2023 NLT Annual Seminar

    Congratulations to Miss Yawinthakorn Thongkaek, Head of the Information Services Section, the Office of Documentation and Information, for receiving the ‘Excellent’ award at the Annual Seminar of the National Library of Thailand (NLT) held on 21 June 2023 at NLT Conference Hall.

    The Seminar was held under the theme “Digital Transformation in Cultural Heritage Management for Library.” Miss Yawinthakorn presented the work titled “King Prajadhipok Study: Learning Resource to Lifelong Education in Disruptive Technology Era” in the category of Digital transformation for libraries in practice.

    STOU faculty members win awards at ITEX 2023

    Congratulations to faculty members from the Office of Educational Technology, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU OET) for receiving awards at the 34th International Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2023) held during 11-12 May 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemmanat Mingsiritham and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan received two awards including Diploma Silver Medal and Outstanding Award by Citizen Innovation from Singapore for “Open Learning Resource Management System; STOU SmartLearnX.”

    Asst. Dr. Phantipa Amornrit and Dr. Pimprapa Phanphai received Diploma Silver Medal for “Watpon.tools: Individual Innovator Competency Assessment Tool.”

    The Office of Educational Technology is one of the key supporting units that drive the development of the distance learning system of the university. The faculty members have continuously expanded the range of their innovative and research works to enhance STOU’s open and distance learning.

    Congratulations to STOU Library for receiving OBEC Book Award 2023 honorable mention prize

    ‘Mon’s Way of Life in Thailand’ received an honorable mention prize for the non-fiction book in the Arts and Culture, History, Religion, and Biography category from the Book Award 2023 by the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC). It is one of the products of the Learning Center for Multiple Intelligences Community, Office of Documentation and Information, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, authored by Mr. Pisan Boonpook. There were 411 book titles that took part in this year’s OBEC Book Award.

    Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn bestowed upon the winning composers, illustrators, and publishers, the occasion to receive the prizes at the 51st National Book Week and the 21st International Book Week at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center on 30 March 2023, where Her Royal Highness graciously presided over the opening ceremony.

    ‘Mon’s Way of Life in Thailand’ tells the story of the way of life of the Mon people who migrated and received royal grace from the Thai King to settle in various areas of Thailand for a long time, including stories about life, customs, culture, traditions, and faith. It also discusses the books, Mon language, food, and careers that each indigenous Mon still maintains and adheres to the way of life according to the local habitat and the changes that occurred over time.

    STOU Librarians receive awards at the PULINET 2023

    Congratulations to Miss Ratchakon Kongcharoen, Miss Kanlayanee Supadit, and Mr. Arcade Kewsawang for receiving awards at the PULINET 2023 Conference.

    The 13th Provincial University Library Network National Conference or PULINET 2023 was held under the theme “Foresight in Reinventing Libraries in a VUCA World: The Next Move,” by Ubon Ratchathani University during 17-20 January 2023 at Sunee Grand Hotel and Convention Center, Ubon Ratchathani.

    The Librarians of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University participated in the conference and presented their academic works and were awarded as the following.

    • Miss Ratchakon Kongcharoen received an excellence award for a poster presentation on “SEO content development strategy: a case study on the promotion of identity information perception at STOU”
    • Mrs. Kanlayanee Supadit and Mr. Arcade Kewsawang received an honorable mention for oral presentation on “Nonthaburi local information development experience with AR, VR, and Mataverse technology”

    There were also three works that won popular votes awards.

    • “The development of online learning resources in information from King Prajadhipok’s studies and university archives to promote lifelong learning in a volatile world” by Miss Yawinthakorn Thongkaek and Miss Duangrat Dikhua
    • “Management of Complimentary e-Book” by Mrs. Nuttaporn Juidech and Miss Thepparat Hanwaree
    • “Knowledge Base Development for Answering and Researching Service of the Office of Information and Documentation, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University” by Miss Jiranat Anantachai and Miss Nattapat Butsua

    2022 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings

    Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) has been ranked 489th in the world among a sustainable universities list.

    Started in 2010, the UI GreenMetric is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia that ranks universities throughout the world based on their commitment and actions toward sustainability.

    In 2022, UI GreenMetric themed “Collective Actions for Transforming Sustainable Universities in the Post-Pandemic Time,” focusing on universities’ efforts to continue their sustainability programs and policies based on UI GreenMetric and SDGs while preparing for teaching, learning, and research in post-pandemic Covid-19. There were 1,050 universities from 80 countries participated in the 2022 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings. Participants completed an online questionnaire with six categories: setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education. With a total of 6,070 out of 10,000 points, STOU has been ranked 489th in the world, and 28th in Thailand.
    STOU has put sustainability among one of the five missions in the STOU Plan for Excellence.

    STOU Innovation & Good Practice Award Ceremony 2022

    25 July 2022 – The university Educational Quality Assurance Coordinating Center held the Innovation & Good Practice Award Ceremony 2022 at Room 5209 Seminar I Building. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Theppasak Boonyarataphan, Acting Vice-President for Strategy, Planning, and Digital Technology, presided over and presented the awards to the inventors.

    There were 13 works submitted and the awardees are as follows.

    The School of Communication Arts was awarded second prize for their Innovation to Increase Learning Outcomes and Reduce Costs for Online Training on Cinematic Skills.”

    The School of Health Science was awarded third prize for their “Gamification: Card Game
    on Public Health Law.”

    Honorary Mention Awards were granted to:

    • The Office of Educational Technology for the Development of Information Systems
      for Teaching and Learning Management and The Production of e-Learning Media;
    • The Office of Computer Services for the Development of the Online Student Assignment Submission System; and
    • The Office of Computer Services for the Development of Information System for Work-from-Home Performance Report.

    All participating inventors also were given certificates of participation for their effort in joining this important campaign.

    STOU has promoted and supported the Innovation and Good Practice campaign since 2015 to encourage STOU faculty members and staff to recognize the importance of innovations that help enhance the quality of education the university provides.

    Congratulations to Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemmanat Mingsiritham, administrators from the Office of Educational Technology, and Dr. Narubodee Wathanakom, a lecturer from the School of Management Science, for receiving certificates of appreciation at the Internationally Outstanding Inventors Awards Ceremony 2022 hosted by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) at Thai Army Union, Bangkok.

    On 15 June 2022, the National Research Council of Thailand, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation held the “Internationally Outstanding Inventors Awards Ceremony” and presentation of certificates of appreciation to Thai inventors and researchers who have been internationally awarded. Prof. Sirirerk Songsivilai, M.D., Ph.D., Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, presided over and presented the certificates of appreciation to the inventors and researchers.

    The researches that have been awarded are:

    1. “SmartSearchCenter Application” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kemmanat Mingsiritham, Asst. Prof. Dr. Gan Chanyawudhiwan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaiyos Paiwithayasiritham, which received Bronze Medal from the 15th International Warsaw Invention Show (IWIS 2021) held during 25-27 October 2021, in Warsaw, Poland.
    2. “Mr. IP Powered by InnoP” – a brilliant mobile learning application with 24/7 Intelligent Tutor integrated with design thinking to create new face of entrepreneurship for the next normal era by Dr. Narubodee Wathanakom, which received Bronze Medal from the Seoul International Innovation Fair 2021 (SIIF 2021) held during 1-4 December 2021, in Seoul, Korea.

    NRCT continuously funds and operates inventions and innovations promotion schemes at the international level to enhance international competitiveness for Thai researchers and inventors. There were altogether 164 pieces of work awarded at 11 different international stages in the fiscal year 2022 so far.

    Congratulations to the Research Center of Communication and Development Knowledge Management (CCDKM), School of Communication Arts, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) for receiving the Community Outreach Award (2021 eLFA Award) from the eLearning Forum Asia (eLFA).

    eLFA has been garnering strong support from educational institutions, business partners, eLearning practitioners, ICT experts, faculty and even students from the region and internationally to meet annually and share best practices in teaching and learning among the eLearning communities to further enhance sharing of experiences and all good deeds to all humanities. The eLFA2021 was hosted by Soegijapranata Catholic University (SCU) during 30 November – 1 December 2021 virtually.

    STOU Liberal Arts Lecturer receives 2021 PULINET Award

    Congratulations to Associate Professor Dr. Namthip Wiphawin, a lecturer from the School of Liberal Arts, for receiving the 2021 PULINET Award as a contributor to the Librarian and Information Science (LIS) academics and profession. The Award was presented at the 12th PULINET National Academic Conference (PULINET 2022) during 5-7 January 2022.

    The PULINET 2022 was held online by Maejo University under the theme “New Generation Libraries: Toward House of Access,” where Dr. Namthip gave her special speech on the same title.
