  • STOU strengthen the relationship with Minister of Energy

    On 12 November 2025, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taweewat Watthanakuljaroen, President of STOU, accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Karn Boonsiri, Asst. Prof. Satawat Doungpan,
    Asst. Prof. Dr. Pavin Chinachoti, Asst. Prof. Dr. Songlak Sakulwichitsintu, and Dr. Tanapond Swanpitak, met with Mr. Auttapol Rerkpiboon, Minister of Energy, and the Ministry’s Executive Members.

    The objective of this meeting was to strengthen the relationship between the institutions. The discussion focused on strategic collaboration and policy directions, specifically regarding the development of STOU’s academic curricula to meet the needs of learners interested in natural resources and the environment. Furthermore, the partnership aims to produce high-caliber graduates equipped to be “Environmental Communicators of the Future,” while simultaneously enhancing skills and potential in natural resource and environmental conservation.

  • STOU and King Prajadhipok’s Institute Join Forces to Enhance Academic Research and Innovation

    On 10 November 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Taweewat Watthanakuljaroen, President of Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), together with the STOU Administrators met Assoc. Prof. Dr. Issara Sereewatthanawut, Secretary-General of King Prajadhipok’s Institute.
    The objectives of the discussion were as follows:

    • To strengthen the relationship between STOU and network members.
    • To drive policies that enhance academic experience, exploration, and research.
    • To support experiential learning through fieldwork and hands-on practice.
    • To bridge and develop collaborative curricula focused on exploration and research between the two institutions.
    • To elevate the quality and potential of the next generation of researchers.

    This discussion underscores the commitment of both institutions to collaborative knowledge development and the cultivation of high-quality personnel. In particular, it aims to provide opportunities for young researchers to gain practical experience, paving the way for them to become professional researchers in the future.

  • STOU signed MOU with JGSEE-KMUTT

    On 3 October 2025,  Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with The Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (JGSEE-KMUTT). The signing ceremony took place at STOU headquarters. The MOU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvit Saetia, President of KMUTT among the ceremony witnesses from two institutions.

    The MOU aims to on the integration of resources, knowledge, and networks to create tangible results in the following key areas:

    • Cooperation in training and research
    • Development of short-term courses, certificate programs, and diplomas to expand educational opportunities
      in environmental and low-carbon studies to the general public
    • Capacity building for personnel in teaching, research, and academic services
    • Implementation of activities consistent with the missions of both institutions for
      the benefit of students and society
  • STOU in the 31st  AMIC Annual Conference

    On 9 October 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamolrat Intaratat and Dr. Hussaporn Thongdaeng, School of Communication Arts, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, were invited to serve as speakers for the AMIC MASTER CLASS at SNDT WOMEN University of India, Mumbai at the 31st AMIC Annual Conference, which is organized on 9-11 October 2025.

    The consensus knowledge and skills in AI FOR INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATION  has been collaborated among all global known universities i.e. SHARDA Universiy, India, ULAB, Bangladesh and others.

  • STOU in Artificial Intelligence in Open Education: Challenges and Opportunities

    On 26 September 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Walisa Romsaiyud, Faculty Member of the School of Science and Technology,
    was invited from Hanoi Open University, Vietnam, to be a keynote speaker in “Artificial Intelligence in Open Education: Challenges and Opportunities. ”The conference aims to exchange knowledge and best practices for developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in non-formal education and lifelong learning.

    She has expertise and outstanding research achievements in the field of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence. Furthermore, it reflects Thailand’s potential to contribute to driving education and innovation at an international level.

  • STOU in Doing Business with Saskatchewan” Forum

    Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) attended the “Doing Business with Saskatchewan” Forum on 26 September 2025, at JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok. The STOU’s delegation consists of Asst. Prof. Janenarong Tiensawang, Dean of
    the School of Agriculture and Cooperatives; Asst. Prof. Dr. Worrawit Nakpan, Director of the Department of International Affairas and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ponsaran Saranrom, a faculty member of the School of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

    On the occasion of the official visit to Bangkok of the Honorable Warren Kaeding, Minister of Trade and Export Development, Government of the Province of Saskatchewan (Canada).

    This exclusive gathering will offer a unique opportunity to engage directly with Minister Kaeding and senior representatives from Saskatchewan and to exchange views on advancing commercial and partnership opportunities between Saskatchewan and Thailand. The STOU delegation shared knowledge and had discussions with experts at this event.

  • STOU signed MOU with Thai-Chinese Institute of Media and Business Administration

    On 12 September 2025, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) ), through its Master of Business Administration program at the School of Management Science, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Thai-Chinese Institute of Media and Business Administration

    The signing ceremony took place at The Emerald Hotel, Bangkok. The MOU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU and Miss Kantharos Hanchaiphibunkul, Director of Thai-Chinese Institute of Media
    and Business Administration  among witnesses of two institutions.

    The objective of this collaboration is to elevate higher education and develop the potential of personnel in Thai-Chinese mass media and business administration. This includes educational aspects such as curriculum management, research, seminars, and training, all of which will benefit both institutions.

  • Digital Health & Nursing: Integrating Technology for Patient Safety Conference

    On 12 September 2025, The School of Nursing at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized “Digital Health & Nursing: Integrating Technology for Patient Safety” Conference and reunion in celebration of STOU’s 47th anniversary on
    5 September 2025. The activities took place at STOU headquarters. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, presided over the conference opening.

    The speakers of the conference consisted of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suchittra Luangamornlert, President of the Thailand Nursing and Midwifery Council, Dr. Pattarawin Attasara, Director of Digital Medical Bureau of Department of Medical Services, and
    RN Wirongrong Charoengid, Director of Nursing Department Bangkok Hospital.

    The conference aimed to educate over 100 attendees, including professional nurses, nursing instructors, alumni, students, and general, on integrating technology for patient safety. Participants also had the opportunity to exchange experiences and learn how to apply this knowledge effectively in their careers. In addition to the main conference, the Nursing Graduate Club held
    a club meeting and organized a “Wai Kru” ceremony as part of the activities.

  • STOU signed MOU with Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office

    On 9 September 2025, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office took place at STOU headquarters.

    The MOU was signed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda, Acting President of STOU, and Dr. Paripon Juljerm, Chief of the Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office. Furthermore, the administrators from both institutions joined as ceremony witnesses.

    This partnership seeks to improve the knowledge and skills of staff at the Nonthaburi Provincial Public Health Office and
    the School of Health Science of STOU through shared academic and research projects, focusing on ongoing community education, sharing information, and offering academic services to the public. The ultimate goal is to maximize mutual benefits by improving the operational efficiency of both government agencies.

  • The Certificate of Achievement Presentation Ceremony

    On 30 August 2025, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) organized the Certificate of Achievement Presentation Ceremony for over 6,000 awardees in academic year 2023. In this occasion, Asst. Prof. Dr. Phanompatt Smitananda,
    Acting President of STOU, was the president of the ceremony among the STOU administrators, faculty members and honorable guests

    The Certificate of Achievement Program is designed for those who want to develop knowledge and skills in academic and professional management across various fields. The project aims to enhance and improve quality of life, as well as increase the professional academic status of students.
